How To Keep Your Nails Healthy While Being A Polish Addict

The Melrika team would like to suggest a few little tips on how to keep your nails healthy and glowy even though you are a nail polish addict just like we are! This post is also dedicated to those who have fragile nails but like to put on nail polish occasionally.

Tip no.1: Don’t skip any steps.
It is very important to use a base coat and a top coat. We cannot be lazy with those because both determine the wearing of your polish. The base coat protects the natural nail and acts like a primer to keep your polish intact. The top coat gives an extra shine also protects the polish from chipping. As your mani chip easily, the chipping will damage your nails even more than when you use nail remover to remove it.

Tip no.2: Keep your growing nails healthy.
After your nails are freshly polished, you shouldn’t forget about how to take care of them like you do for your hands. You can apply cuticle oil every day or every two days to moisturize  your growing nail. Like that, the new part of your nails will be healthy and strong instead of being damaged by polishes.

Tip no.3: “Long drying” top coat vs. fast drying top coats.
We tend to go for the fast drying top coat polish as we are always on a rush to do other things. However, it is always better to use a regular top coat for the first seal. This top coat will actually take the time to seal in all the polish and have enough time to harden the polish together. On the contrary, the results of the fast drying top coat would be less effective and could make your polish last not as long as it could.

Tip no.4: Take care of  your polished nails.
Yup, you heard that right, even if they are polished, the chipping of the lacquer affects a lot your natural nail. Of course, you will need to apply a base coat and all those essentials step-by-step to get your mani done. It is very important to prevent the polish from chipping as less as possible since as they come off, there’s a risk that you will damage the nail at the same time. Therefore, as we do our daily dishes or chores, it is best to put on some gloves to prevent friction. Also, you can apply a very thin layer of fast drying top coat everyday to add extra hardness to it and also extra shine!
