In the blogosphere, there can be unhealthy competition and hatred sometimes, but at Melrika, we strongly believe that supporting each other is the most beautiful and meaningful act bloggers can do for one another. For this reason, we were extremely proud and happy to be invited to the launch party of Boucle Magazine‘s first paper magazine earlier this week! ❤
A little background
Boucle is a francophone blog that was founded in 2012 whose mission is to promote positive messages about issues that everyone faces such as body image, self-esteem, etc. Their goal is to help people love themselves the way they are, no matter their weight, height, colour of their skin, etc. Boucle promotes a message of diversity that includes anyone and everyone and has a very refreshing point of view on themes such as beauty, mental health, sexuality, etc.
About the paper magazine
“Être Humain” is simply the perfect title for the magazine, as it is a smart pun (‘being human’ and ‘human being’, hehe) and perfectly represents the content of the magazine. The main theme is diversity, so you can expect to find articles about gender fluidity, sexual diversity, body image/representation in the media, prejudices, identity, etc. There is also a lookbook through which Boucle promotes local brands such as Frank+Oak and Les poupounes de luxe. The content is entirely in French and is a compilation of brand new articles that were not previously published on the web. Did we mention that the team at Boucle did pretty much everything themselves, from the drawings to the editing, and from the correcting of the texts to the pictures? That’s pretty impressive and inspiring!
Full of smart, beautifully written articles, the magazine is a must-read for anyone who cares about challenging our society’s norms for a better present and an improved future. Why do we love it so much? Not only because we believe in and share Boucle’s values, but also because the team behind the magazine is a bunch of lovely and beautiful souls. We are proud to say long live diversity and long live Boucle Magazine!
Oh, and we can’t wait to read future paper editions 😉
*”Être Humain” is not available online at the moment, but it will be eventually (rest assured!)
